Mike Johnston here. I have 2 boys who play baseball so I really connected with what you and Mike discussed. I agree the biggest problem is the parents myself included. Wouldn’t it be great to have a sandlot league where parents were not allowed to attend games but had safety officials at each game to monitor player Health and pitch count etc... No coaches and no parents. Just team captains who set the lineup and play sandlot baseball. Parents could help on the administrative side such as scheduling and communication but field play would be 100% on the kids. I think this would make it infinitely more fun for the kids and drive interest.
